The legendary Mühlbauer hat Karl is a narrow brimmed gentleman’s shape, known as a trilby. Trilby is the name of the heroine in a novelette by the British author George du Maurier (around 1890), who wore a hat of this shape. Here Karl is made of melusin felt, one of the best felt qualities available, made of 100% rabbit hair. The typical fluffy hairy character of melusine felt is obtained by brushing out the longer hairs in the felt. The melusin felt has been printed with a leopard skin pattern. In order to draw your full attention to the shape, material and print, the hat remains pure and free from all further decoration.
