MÜHLBAUER HAT MAKERS SINCE 1903
Mühlbauer was founded in 1903 by Julianna Mühlbauer. She began with a small hat atelier and adjoining shop in the Viennese suburb of Floridsdorf. Over 120 years later, the family business is run by Klaus Mühlbauer in the fourth generation and one of the world's leading names in the field of headwear.
The best quality can only be produced by hand. Mühlbauer combines the traditional craft of millinery with contemporary design. Klaus Mühlbauer, hatter in the fourth generation, creates the hat collections together with two in-house designers. Experimentation is a deliberate part of the process to continuously create something new.
Our artisanal production methods allow us to create styles according to your wishes and measurements. Most hats ordered online are also custom-made for our customers. This ensures you receive a unique, perfectly fitting piece of headwear.
The big majority of Mühlbauer pieces are made in and around Vienna. The heart of our production is located at Schwedenplatz in central Vienna. There, we craft headwear made of felt, straw, fabric and fur shaped on wooden molds, according to artisanal traditions.
