HAT MAKING

Video file

The heart of millinery is the making of a felt or straw hat. This is where the skills of the hat makers and milliners come into play.

The starting material is the so-called hat stump. This is pulled onto a wooden hat block and affixed by hand (plating). The formed, still damp hat is then dried in the oven. After drying, the hat has its shape. It now moves to the trimming workshop, where it is "garnished", i.e. decorated according to all the rules of craftsmanship and finished.

From the day you place your order to the dispatch of your finished hat we require 7 to 10 days.
