Wear & Care

Felt hats

Use

Felt is a very robust material and the perfect protection against the elements.

Storage

Felt hats should be stored flat on a shelf and not hung on a hook. Scrunched hats can be folded and packed in a bag for transport (only if dry, please). Hats that have become damp should be stretched slightly before drying (e.g. on your head) and eventually bent into shape again. Please do not dry on the heater! If storing for a longer period, remember to protect the hat against moths and dust.

Care

Small stains can be removed carefully using a soft dry clothes brush. More resilient stains can be gently washed away using a soft sponge and lukewarm water. Alternatively, please bring your hat to a specialist cleaner.

Straw hats

Use

Straw hats are designed to be worn in dry, warm weather. They should not be worn during damp weather or in the rain, as this will alter their shape.

Storage

Straw hats (especially one that has become damp) are best stored flat on a shelf. They should never be hung on a hook. Scrunched straw hats can be folded and packed into a bag for travel purposes. Straw that has not been treated (scrunched) in this way, made of natural fibres, is fragile and can break easily (e.g. Panama straw). Please take good care of such straw hats.

Care

Stains on straw are difficult to remove. Therefore treat your straw hat with care. Small stains can be washed away very carefully using a soft sponge and lukewarm water.

Fur hats

Use

Fur hats are the perfect protection against the cold and snow. Fur hats are not suited to rain. Heavy rain can cause them to lose volume and hair.

Storage

You can store your fur hat flat on shelf or hang it on a hook. Damp or wet fur hats can be shaken and air dried. Please do not place the fur hat on a heater to dry! For storage during the warm months of the year, turn your fur hat inside out (lining on the outside, fur on the inside). This protects the fur. Please protect the hat from moths and dust. Fur hats should not be stored in airtight plastic bags (this can cause them to lose hair)!

Care

Stains on fur hats are difficult to remove. Therefore, please protect your fur hat from dirt. Please always bring stained fur hats to a specialist cleaner.

Fabric hats

Use

Fabric hats can be used universally, in any weather. However, in strong rain you should wear fabric hats made of a waterproof material.

Storage

The storage of fabric hats is very easy: on a shelf or a hook. They can also be stacked. If storing for a longer period, please consider the appropriate moth and dust protection.

Care

Please bring stained fabric hats to a cleaning service.

Knitted hats

Use

Knitted hats are uncomplicated in their use.

Storage

Knitted caps are best laid flat on a shelf. Please do not hang on a hook, this can deform the hat. Damp or wet knitted headwear is shaken and air dried flat – never put wool on a heater to dry!

Care

Please bring dirty knitted caps to a specialist cleaner.
