CLOCHE

The cloche (French for bell) is a hat with a round crown and a short, downward-facing brim, originally worn only by women. The hat style emerged in the 1920s and complemented the sleek hairstyles of the era, especially the bob cut then fashionable. The cloche was worn pulled down low over the forehead – unusual for women's hats at the time.
